Early Childhood Program

St. Isaac Jogues' Early Childhood Program offers State licensed, developmentally appropriate, play based classroom settings for children to grow emotionally, socially and academically.

In addition to nurturing the individual child, everything we do is directed toward helping our children encounter Christ through prayer and liturgical experiences. This happens concretely through discovering God's world around them in academics and through encountering His other children as our brothers and sisters.

Founded on Faith

Every child receives the opportunity to encounter God through a variety of meaningful ways. Each one spends time weekly in our Atrium, directed according to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, which uses Montessori teaching principles. Early Childhood students attend Mass once each week. Prayers and time for reflection are integrated in each classroom's daily routine.

Steeped in Learning

Our Program Features:

  • Social and emotional development, nurtured through daily routines and activities.
  • Daily themes used to create a learning environment that will stimulate a child’s natural curiosity and desire to explore.
  • Circle Time that features songs, music, finger plays, movement, stories and discussions about the world around us.
  • Center based activities to allow children to develop small motor, writing, science, math, literacy and problem solving skills while learning to follow directions.
  • Gross motor development through classroom activities and recess

For more information about academics, please see the Curriculum Overview posted in the sidebar.

Alive in Virtue

Living virtuously enables people to become more Christ-like and we strive to help our children on that path. We offer virtue education in age-appropriate ways, through lessons, classroom discussions, and teacher modeling.

United in Community

Our school recognizes that we are part of larger communities around us…our parish, our city, and our world. We allow many opportunities for the children to be active members of these communities. As the old saying goes, community begins at home, so we work to build up our families through such events as Family Day and Muffins with Mom. Then comes our own community in the classroom where we daily strive to grow as brothers and sisters in Christ. We also engage in activities with the wider school, especially through our Buddy Program with Older SIJ Students.
