At St. Isaac Jogues we strive to help each of our children encounter Christ through a variety of meaningful ways. Every child spends time weekly in our Atrium where they are taught according to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program. When they are not in the atrium they encounter Jesus daily through daily prayer. Once a month our youngest ones join the rest of the school at Mass for major feasts and solemnities.
At St. Isaac Jogues, we want to do more than simply teach children. We want to instill in them a love of learning that will last a lifetime. We accomplish that in many ways. Our comprehensive curriculum covers cognitive growth with hands-on learning, language development, social and emotional growth, physical growth, and developing fine and gross motor skills. Daily our children participate in Specials Classes, including art, music, computers, gym, library and Spanish.
For more information about academics, please see the Curriculum Overview posted in the sidebar.
Living virtuously enables people to become more Christ-like and we strive to help our children on that path. We offer virtue education in age-appropriate ways, through lessons, classroom discussions, and teacher modeling.
Our school recognizes that we are part of larger communities around us…our parish, our city, and our world. We allow many opportunities for the children to be active members of these communities. As the old saying goes, community begins at home, so we work to build up our families through such events as Family Day and Muffins with Mom. Then comes our own community in the classroom where we daily strive to grow as brothers and sisters in Christ. We also engage in activities with the wider school, especially through our Buddy Program with Older SIJ Students.
