Sr. Imelda Marie has been teaching 2nd grade at St. Isaac Jogues since 2016.
She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education and integrated science from Eastern Michigan University in 2013 and completed a master's degree in science education at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2019.
This is her seventh year teaching second grade. Before coming to St. Isaac Jogues, she taught in Plymouth, MI. She also has several years of experience planning and teaching religious youth summer programs. She refereed youth soccer and tutored in math before entering the convent. Sister is experienced at and passionate about using multi-sensory phonics instruction to teach beginning readers and has had a long-standing interest in education theory.
Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Mary in 2006 and made her final vows in 2014. She enjoys playing the piano, singing, walking outdoors, and developing a love for the Jesus in the Eucharist among others. She feels at home near the Great Lakes, having been raised in Green Bay, WI.
